2-day Workshop at The Actors Centre, London

Neutral Mask & the space of the imagination

Sunday 19th & Sunday 26th February 2017

For actors and physical performers, this workshop explores the imagination and ability to physically create another world. Using the neutral mask, we will be developing physicality, with improvisation on the journey through natural landscapes. As a performer do you have habits? Do you return to the same actions when asked to improvise? Do you create similar spaces? This work identifies your patterns and expands your options when stepping into an imagined world. This can be directly used in creating character & space for motion capture.

HOW WILL IT WORK? In a dynamic group setting, we will use the neutral mask to identify individual key strengths, presence and physicality. Using improvisation, articulation of movement & the ability to create imagined space, the neutral mask journey taps into a wealth of information in developing the performer, building confidence & an awareness of physical story.

WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? You will leave the course with key skills to step into imagined landscapes with clarity, curiosity & confidence, knowing your individual strengths and character forms. It will sharpen your awareness of how physical relationship to space can tell a story, & develop instinctive natural movement and performance on stage. Price: £60.
